Evaluation 4: How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Evaluation 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Evaluation 3:

For this question, we had decided to interview a few of our classmates and ask them questions to gather audience feedback and created a video as shown below:

From creating this video, we had received a lot of feedback from our fellow classmates. What was brought up a lot throughout the video is that they all liked the amount of locations and the specific locations we used in our music video. Another favourite of theirs was the scenes with the actress in the black dress with the black setting near the end of our music video. They liked how those scenes were powerful with the setting and the lip syncing. One thing that our editor was proud of in the music video, was the scene where the clicking happens which changes the scene too, which was what Connor had pointed out. We thought that part of the video was very effective. In the video above, we had also asked them how different our finished music video was compared to our rough cut, they had all mentioned that the editing was much better and on point in the finished music video than the rough cut. The most important feedback we had received is how we could have improved the music video. Damola had said that in the shot of the singer looking over the bride was quite long without and lip syncing, he had also said we had made it slightly look like a montage and to improve this we would cut the footage shorter and add another bit of footage afterwards. Chloe had also suggested to us that we should include more close up footage so we thought to improve that we would have included close ups of the singer's eyes or lips to show the extra emotion throughout the video. Damola and Gemma had also both mentioned that they saw little moments where the lip syncing was a little off and it wasn't completely perfect.

Below are some comments we received on youtube that were under our finished music video:

Evaluation 2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts (DVD didgipak, Magazine advert)?

Q2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? {DVD Digipak, Magazine Advert?}

Our choice of song was "Out Loud" By Youtuber Gabbie Hanna is a typical relationship song, however, her music video had shown that is wan't a breakup song, it was about her partner passing away and showing that she was hurting. For our music video to this chosen song, we had decided to keep the video simple and we didn't really choose for it to have a narrative, instead we wanted to strongly show the singer's emotions throughout the video.

With our artist, we wanted to give her a similar look to the original artist in her music video, with a mixture of our artist being outside in brighter scenes looking relaxed to contrast her being in a different setting, which was just a plain backdrop so the focus can just be on the artist and her strong emotion throughout the song.

Unlike Gabbie, who shows herself slowly falling apart, in her music video, we wanted our artist, Megan to show how powerful and bold she is throughout the video, to emphasise the lyrics, in this case we used close up shots in order to show this to the audience. We had also decided to add shots of her outside in different scenery as we thought it would make the audience uncomfortable watching the music video if it was just all one big close up. Adding the scenery makes the music video more lively as it gives of  a happier atmosphere

As our target audience/general audience were between the ages of 12 and 20, we went for a really appropriate approach, with Megan dressed in simple clothing such as the black dress during the close ups and normal every day wear in the shots filmed outside, This can also show the audience that the artist is appropriate and            comfortable. We had also thought about this whilst constructing the music video, we wanted to keep it simple and innocent for the younger viewers but understandable for the slightly older teens. This can also relate to our other products that were made as they were simple and effective.

The Digipak:

Whilst constructing the digipak, I took the theme into consideration. I had constructed it to have a similar appearance to the music video and our other products such as the magazine advert also. All these images were taken on one of our filming days, where I stood behind the scenes taking photos throughout the filming process and I also included some posed photos of the artists choosing to make it more unique. I decided to use these photos as she was wearing the black dress with a plain background. I thought this
 would be the most effective as it could make
the audience focus more on the artist.

The Advert:

The advert is also really similar to our digipak, I had chosen a posed photo going with the theme of boldness with the artists' striking glance directly at the audience. I had kept the font simple, so the audience wouldn't struggle to identify the artist and the album name which I thought was important. I had also retouched the original photo in order to give it more colour as the original was the same warm tone so I had retouched it with more saturation added to the skin etc.
