Rough Cut - Feedback
Rough Cut Feedback
For our rough cut, we decided to gather audience feedback information by showing our videos to our classmates. We created a quick questionnaire for them to fill out whilst they were watching the video, The questions that were included in the questionnaire were:
-What was good about the video?
-What does the video tell you about the artist?
-What atmosphere did it set?
-What could we improve on?
For the first question, we received answers saying that our shots with the different lighting was good and they liked how we used a black and white filter over our footage to add to the effect. They had also said how we accurately edited to some beats throughout the song. for the second question, we had answers saying that the artist of the song could have been sad, depressed or was going through something in her life such as heartbreak or losing someone, which could have affected the outcome of the song. For the third question, we had answers saying that our atmosphere we created throughout the video was dark and mysterious, sorrowful and dramatic and how they are portrayed throughout the video. Finally, we received a lot of feedback on what we could improve on, for example, we could add more shots that give off more emotions. Another thing that we could improve on is the variety of shots and how we should include more settings throughout the video which we have definitely taken into consideration for our final filming sessions. We have definitely looked at our audience feedback carefully to improve our video as much as we could.

Editing 2
EDITING 2
As my partner was in charge of the video, she explained different things she did throughout the process. During this session, she added the finishing touches and she used some colour correction tools on adobe premiere to add a glossy affect on the video. She used this effect mostly on the chorus shots as they were the most darkest and dullest. She also made the rest of the footage more brighter to make it seem more alive. She was thinking about contrasting some shots but didn't in the end as they made the footage look posterized and animated.
She also used the "Luma Curve" which allowed her to fix specific colours and brighten them which made the footage look more colourful and less dull.
Below is a screenshot of a scene from out music video before and after adding colour adjustments to it.

Editing 1
For our first day editing, we decided that one of us (my partner) should only
edit the video as I was in charge of the digipak and the photos for the
magazine advert. However I still helped her with ideas and what shots should be put where. She would use markers to show where there are strong beats throughout the song so she would be able to 'edit to the beat' and give We had discussed that when she will next edit the music video, she would focus on the chorus and get it finished as it's repeated throughout the song a few times

Filming The Music Video - Day 2
FILMING DAY 2
On our second day of filming, we had re-filmed what we had previously filmed on the first day with the male actor but we changed it slightly. We filmed with four different shots which were a close up of the singers face, a medium shot of the singers full profile, a medium shot with the singer in the spotlight and a medium shot of her laying on the floor. As we used my partner's Canon camera, we were able to film with the black and white filter on without editing it on the actual footage, which helped us create a really good atmosphere in our video for the ending and other places.

Filming The Music Video - Day 1
DAY 1
We had decided to film the last shots of the music video first as we thought it would be the longest to film. We had the main singer and and actor to play the abusive boyfriend. During filming, we had figured out the way the singer and the actor should show their emotions of the song in the same shot. The boyfriend was made to look as if he regrets everything and he is trying to reach out to the girl but she has already let go. The main singer was made to look angry about the past events but with the outfit she is wearing and the way she sings the song was made to show her being set free from him and the past.
