We had decided to film the last shots of the music video first as we thought it would be the longest to film. We had the main singer and and actor to play the abusive boyfriend. During filming, we had figured out the way the singer and the actor should show their emotions of the song in the same shot. The boyfriend was made to look as if he regrets everything and he is trying to reach out to the girl but she has already let go. The main singer was made to look angry about the past events but with the outfit she is wearing and the way she sings the song was made to show her being set free from him and the past.
For our fourth production meeting we discussed about our last filming sessions. We had decided to re-film the footage we had used in our rough cut which was from our first filming session. We also discussed about finalising our ideas and the definite locations we will be using and all the available ties we are able to film in those locations. We then talked about editing our video and how we could improve on it by adding more locations throughout the video and we gained and developed more ideas about using different shots and scenes and how we could edit them throughout our audience feedback. Lastly, me and my partner talked about our editing schedule and plan, for example, if we will have enough footage to edit with and how much of the footage we should edit during all our available times.
For our third production meeting, we discussed what we needed to film for our next filming session. We decided that we should film in our other setting which was the park. We also talked about what precautions we needed to take such as making sure that the singer wasn't too cold and so we confirmed details about what kind of clothing the singer should wear in order for her to be comfortable and warm for filming. We also discussed what kind of equipment we needed to use for that filming day, we would need to use a dolly to film the singer walking of our other setting which is a bridge.
For our second production meeting, we had to discuss our filming sessions and how we would do it as our male actor could not make the production meetings. We also discussed the abusive relationship that would be included in the music video and how we would have close up shots on the bruises on the female actress' skin. We also decided on the date we would film again and the details of what shots we would use for that filming session.
For our first production meeting. we talked about our costume ideas for our music video and then came up with two ideas in total. We talked about the two different costume ideas and how they can show off the main singer's change of persona. We also discussed a rough idea of how we could filmed at our different chosen locations and when we should do so.
The storyboard was quite difficult to construct as we didn't know that throughout filming, we might have to changes some scenes that we've already added in which would change the video slightly. Some images on the storyboard are repeated as we would use the same type of shot or be in the same location to film and shoot for the video repeatedly.
Audience Research is very important process of our planning as this is where we gather feedback from others. Gathering feedback can help our group because we can use this feedback for our video to make it more creative and original with other ideas.
We had to play our chosen song to our class and they had to answer questions and the questions were:
-What five words do you think of when you hear this song?
-What do you imagine the lead singer to look like?
-What colour/colours come to mind when you hear the song?
-What kind of scenes or themes do you imagine seeing in the video of the song?
We got our classmates to write down their answers:
Then below is a summary of most of the words that were said in the answers:
We also asked some girls in the class, as we thought they were fit for our target audience, for their opinions and feedback on our idea for our music video, this is what they said:
"I like the idea about it because it shows that girls can do what they want to do, however she might feel guilty at the end because she killed her boyfriend" -Gemma
"An interesting amplification of a love song, a unique take on the stereotypical conventions seen in "love" songs or in this case "not quite love" songs" -Megan
"A bit messed up, a cool idea" -Victoria
"I like the fact that the idea for this music video incorporates the lyrics but doesn't mirror it exactly the same. Shows another perspective." -Chloe
With our storyboard, it took a lot of planning as we had extra footage to add in. We had a rough idea of what the video was going to be edited like so we included the main shots we were definitely going to use.

On the animatic, we decided to use some specific shots over again, which is why there are repeated images throughout.

In our version of this song we tell a story of a girl who was stuck in an abusive relationship. The abuse happens for a long time until her partner pushes her too far where she has no choice but to defend herself as she stabs him. After these events for near the end of the song we wanted to show the change in her persona. We show a powerful strong beautiful girl who sings with passion and emotion. Expressing the pain that she went through.
Key Genre Conventions:
Random close ups of the singers face.
Goodwin - We ignore the lyrics - Twist them in our won way.
Upbeat and emotional.
Dark Colours to set her mood, and elegance.
Editing to the beat - Show allow the video to flow.
